OUR APPROACH ...

Martial Arts have been around in one form or another since time began.  Whether the arts were organized the way they are now is not important.  Every culture on earth devised ways of exercising to stay healthy and ways of fighting to stay safe.  Some focused on weapons such as sling shots, bows and arrows or throwing rocks.  Some focused on swords and spears while still others focused on folk style wrestling.

The martial arts as we think of them today were formulated in India and Africa and then spread to the Far East.  Every continent and culture put their own spin on the arts and presented them in the ways that their culture would embrace.

Whether the techniques are Chinese, Japanese, Russian, French or Filipino, they are all focused on movement.  All Martial Arts systems were created to align breathe, structure and movement, and to help the people stay safe and healthy.

In the world of Martial Arts names mean everything to some people, to others names mean nothing.  If someone is hit in the face and knocked out, it does not matter if it was a Shotokan reverse punch or a Muay Thai elbow.  Our approach to Martial Arts is a progressive, eclectic approach stressing traditional values.  Our goal is to improve people mentally, physically, spiritually, emotionally and socially.  Our system has many physical influences.  There are nine main arts that comprise our method of Martial Arts.  They are:

-Kenpo
  - American Kenpo
  - Tracy Kenpo
  - Chinese Kenpo
  - Progressive Kenpo-jitsu

-Jujitsu

  - Nippon ketsugo ryu

We want to develop completely well rounded Martial Artists, as well as, well-rounded Human Beings.  By training ourselves physically, we develop ourselves mentally, so that we may elevate ourselves spiritually, so that we can be more in control of ourselves emotionally and socially.  We train for Self-protection/self-defense first.  Our curriculum revolves around realistic self defense.  We train in all ranges of combat including psychological.  We train hard, and have a lot of fun.  We strive to develop the virtues of Modesty, Courtesy, Integrity, Self-Control, Perseverance, and Indomitable Spirit.

In his 26 years of Martial Arts training, Mr. Wilson has received Black belts or teaching certificates in several arts and holds health and fitness certifications as a certified physical fitness specialist, Yoga, Pilates, and Prasara instructor as well as the distinguished position as the Head Coach in RMAX/CST (Circular Strength Training) www.rmax.tv. Mr. Wilson draws the techniques, concepts and principles from all of these arts.  We call our system Modern Kenpo.
